Introduction

Hi everyone!! I decided to write about music for my blog. I wrote about the EMA's which was recently held in Belfast, and discussed the winners of the awards. I thought it was a really great event. I also spoke about the style at the event with particular mention of the hits and misses of celebrity fashion. I talked about the Justin Bieber Baby scandal which is big news in the media at the moment. I summarised two articles I read recently about Twitter and Facebook, two of the biggest social networking sites in the world. I also reviewed a song that is number one in the charts right now and is one of my favourites.

Here's my blog and I hope you enjoy reading it! :)

Twitter – The Pro’s of using Twitter to market your business and to communicate with others

Twitter users are sending 50 million tweets a day according to Wikipedia.com. The above article basically deals with how Twitter has improved marketing for businesses and upcoming artists. Twitter has the ability to enable people to share information instantaneously across the globe and to post comments with personal views on any topic. The opportunities are endless for ordinary people, businesses and celebrities to promote themselves on Twitter. Twitter has definitely become a very popular site. The fact you can simply type a tweet and transmit the information with a single click is one of the main reasons why businesses thrive on this site. Their adverts and announcements are made public within seconds. In the Twitter world one can select a topic of interest and follow the tweets posted from anywhere in the world.

In my opinion, Twitter is very influential. I am not a tweeter myself, but it seems a lot of programmes and people use it, even politicians. People tweet news updates into Sky News and they are read out on air. Ordinary people can give eyewitness accounts of news as it breaks. This was particularly evident during the Summer revolutions in the Middle East as Sky and BBC news used locals to describe events on the ground as it was too dangerous for their correspondents to be in the midst of the violence. If one has the Twitter app on their phone they can read and post Tweets on the go. To tweet is not just a young person’s novelty or a passing fad; it is has become a worldwide phenomenon which is here to stay. Without doubt Twitter is a valuable communication device available and free to all.

Facebook's new look draws criticism from area users

This article basically describes how the bosses of Facebook have introduced many new features to the site such as grouping friends and categories, larger photo displays and the larger news feed that is very open for anybody to see people's every move on the site. A report on Thursday, 22nd Sept, revealed that many people were unhappy with the changes, they now found Facebook complex and confusing to use. Whereas before people could navigate simply around the site, the Facebook team have introduced new features such as music, movies and TV shows and this is just the beginning of their changes. They expect advertising revenue to bring in at least 3.8bn dollars and to increase further in 2012. Facebook executives have made these changes to improve the service so it’s users will spend more time on that site and not be enticed to other social networks like Google plus.

Personally I find the changes made to Facebook quite confusing however I still think they are an improvement with many extras, for example it is easier to stay connected with friends and to keep in touch with updates in a user friendly way. I think one of the disadvantages is the conversations amongst friends are less private as all pictures, comments, photos and interactions among friends are immediately recorded on the newsfeed for everybody to see.

Factors to consider when buying a laptop or computer

When one is buying a laptop several factors should be considered. In my opinion I think the customer must ask himself the question “what do I need this computer or laptop for.” Screen size may be a priority if someone wants to watch videos, play games or just use the internet from time to time.

Weight

Check the weight of the computer or laptop as the lighter the laptop, the easier it is to move around. The heavier the laptop the less expensive they are as people do not want a heavy laptop. People want to be able to transport it easily. Features can also add weight to the laptop and be more expensive such as a powerful graphics card or a large screen.

Warranty

Check the warranty and how long it is valid for incase it gets damaged

Memory Ram (RAM)

It is worth paying extra money for Random Access Memory (RAM) as this will determine the speed of the machine, as the more ram we have on our computers the faster it will perform. Extra memory can be bought very cheaply in shops.

The Brand

Do not choose unknown brand names for the sake of saving money as this may not get you quality for money. Most unknown companies have a lack of spare parts, ineffective warranties and unstable set-ups.

MTV European Music Awards

This years EMA's was held in the Odyssey arena in Belfast. Among the stars performing on the night were Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Jessie J. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, the host, also performed. She was a good host and made it her own. Here is a list of the awards that were won:

Global Icon Award Winner: Queen, which was well deserved. I loved watching the flashbacks of their performances. They are legends and will be remembered forever!

Best AlternativeWinner: 30 Seconds to Mars

Best MaleWinner: Justin Bieber, I’m not a fan but he's very talented. Can’t believe all the scandal surrounding him at the mo.

Best PopWinner: Justin Bieber, I think Rihanna was more worthy of this award. She’s had some unreal songs recently such as We found Love, which was filmed in Belfast too. I think it’s really great they're reinventing the city!

Best SongWinner: Lady Gaga I think Adele deserved this one, oh well. She has a fantastic voice. Hopefully her recent surgery will put to rest her recent touring woes :(

Best RockWinner: Linkin Park

Best Hip Hop
Winner: Eminem Hell yeah! He's great, been around forever.

Best LiveWinner: Katy Perry Whoo! Dunno if I’m digging the hair though..

Best New ArtistWinner: Bruno Mars Deserved. He's a cutie, and put in an amazing performance on the night.

Best Video
Winner: Lady Gaga I knew she would win this one, her videos are generally cool and she puts a lot of effort into them.

Best World StageWinner: 30 Seconds to Mars

Best UK & Ireland ActWinner: Adele :) Glad she won this one, she has a huge fan base.

Rihanna's New Single Is Another Hit-maker

‘We Found Love’ has to be my favourite song right now and is the first single from Rihanna's upcoming album and it drew in instantly a fantastic reception. The song, featuring Calvin Harris, actually charted in the UK at number one before its music video was even released. She’s such an exciting artist because each album that she puts out is always very different from the last. The song has a very romantic feel to with the line "We found love in a hopeless place." After the first verse, the romantic feel is abandoned and we are treated to a dance track that helps the vibe transition from romance to a more sexier feel.
Her new album Talk That Talk is due November 21st and no matter what direction she takes, we know everyone will be listening!

Justin Bieber Baby Scandal

A 20-year-old woman named Mariah Yeater has filed a paternity suit against Justin Bieber. She says he fathered her child backstage at a concert last October. Justin Bieber has strongly denied the claims on the Today show on Friday saying "I'd just like to say, basically, that none of those allegations are true," and "I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim." When asked if he knew Yeater, he replied: "I never met the woman." Justin Bieber said he will take a DNA test  to prove he is not Mariah Yeater's baby daddy.
It later emerged Yeater has sent texts to a male friend. In them, the 20 year old asks him to erase messages from her mother that say someone else is the father of her baby and offers the friend a cut of the money she would receive from a successful lawsuit.

Last week, Mariah Yeater dropped the lawsuit against the Canadian singer after these latest messages came to light. Once the test shows Justin is not the daddy, Justin and his team have said they will sue her for defamation of character. Sources say Bieber and his team think it's important to file a lawsuit against Yeater to show there are consequences when someone claims hurtful allegations against a celebrity.

EMA's STYLE:

Style Hits & Misses Of The Night!

Lady Gaga took over the EMA's wearing more outrageous outfits. During her performance of her latest single "Marry the night" she donned a metallic satellite shaped ensemble. Another outfit she wore was a floor-length gown fully created of small metallic pieces. It must have been really heavy to wear. The crazy headwear throughout the night was, of course, made by famous Irish hat designer Philip Treacy.
Gaga beat out her competition to nab Best Song for "Born This Way," as well as Best Video and Best Female.
I thought her outfits were typical gaga, outrageous, uncomfortale looking and it looked like she could barely see or walk. Gaga fans might go gaga over her look, but for me, it had to be a MISS!

Jessie J  rocked two daring bodysuits as usual, which is getting kind of old. The first was a slick cut-out look which I thought was a MISS. I thought her shoes were horrible and the pale white washed her out. She needs to be careful not to be a try hard! I loved Jessie's third choice of the night though, a brassy but brilliant leopard print gown which she teamed with retro curly hair. She looked like a proper fashionista and I loved the vampy red lips. HIT!

She rocked it out in Dolce & Gabbana

Not so much in a skin tight body suit

Selena Gomez stepped out onto the red carpet looking radiant in a lacy cream-colored dress. I think this was definitely one of the best outfits of the night. It was very feminine and pretty yet playful. She also stunned the crowds in a leather and tribal maxi. They were both definitely a HIT! Out of  her many changes on the night, I wasn't keen on the red shimmer playsuit. MISS!
